A methodology for online characterization of the deconsolidation of fiber-reinforced thermoplastic composite laminates
نویسندگان
چکیده
Pre-consolidated fiber-reinforced thermoplastic laminates often need a secondary manufacturing step such as welding, forming. When low pressure is applied during the laminate heating stage, porosities can appear in various forms (bubbles, delaminations, etc.). This deconsolidation phenomenon. These significantly deteriorate mechanical properties of composites. Usually, characterized by analysis after processing or Thermomechanical Analysis (TMA). However, these techniques do not allow online investigation mechanisms on representative composite laminates. In order to overcome limitations, new experimental device has been developed. It allows characterization deconsolidation, continuous measurement strain samples with large size (several centimeters contrast few millimeters TMA) under conditions. The capability setup illustrated plate made high-performance Carbon Fiber (CF) - reinforced (CF/PEKK laminates).

Thermographic Non-Destructive Evaluation for Natural Fiber-Reinforced Composite Laminates
Natural fibers, including mineral and plant fibers, are increasingly used for polymer composite materials due to their low environmental impact. In this paper, thermographic non-destructive inspection techniques were used to evaluate and characterize basalt, jute/hemp and bagasse fibers composite panels. Different defects were analyzed in terms of impact damage, delaminations and resin abnormal...
متن کاملAn Investigation into the Deep Drawing of Fiber-Metal Laminates based on Glass Fiber Reinforced Polypropylene
Abstract Fiber-metal laminates (FMLs) are new type of composite materials which could improve defects of traditional composites in ductility, formability, impact and damage tolerance. Drawing behavior of a thermoplastic based FML was investigated consisting of glass-fiber reinforced polypropylene composite laminate and aluminum AA1200-O as the core and skin layers, respectively. The effects o...

Biocomposites have attracted a great deal of interest in research and industry sectors because they are typically lightweight, sustainable, environmentally friendly, and their thermomechanical properties can be designed to fit specific applications by tuning of their composition. In this study, mechanical properties of natural-fiber reinforced thermoplastic composite films were explored. Thermo...
متن کاملOverview of Flax Fiber Reinforced Thermoplastic Composites
Flax fibres are oftenly used for reinforcing thermoplastic to manufacture biocomposite materials exhibiting numerous advantages such as high mechanical properties, low density and biodegradability. The mechanical properties of a biocomposite material depends on the nature and orientation of the fibres, the nature of the matrix and mainly on the adhesion between fiber and the polymer matrix. The...
متن کاملinvestigating the feasibility of a proposed model for geometric design of deployable arch structures
deployable scissor type structures are composed of the so-called scissor-like elements (sles), which are connected to each other at an intermediate point through a pivotal connection and allow them to be folded into a compact bundle for storage or transport. several sles are connected to each other in order to form units with regular polygonal plan views. the sides and radii of the polygons are...
